What can The Bowen Technique be used to treat?

The Bowen Technique is a truely holistic therapy in that we say it does not treat specific symptoms. Instead it treats the body as a whole unit, because the body works as a whole unit. In reality if you have a specific complaint, that issue will often receive special attention and it is possible to treat only that area, but generally only if time limits prevent a full treatment. After all it may not be the sore area where the problem is stemming from, in which case the source of the problem will need treatment.

There are no contraindications to using Bowen. There is no condition which the Bowen therapist would not offer treatment. Because of this, and because the treatment is so gentle, The Bowen Technique is suitable for everyone from new born babies to the frail and elderly. Even in very serious or acute conditions, where an injury has just occurred, Bowen can be used to very good effect. As well as bad backs and necks, Bowen also is extremely effective on more complex or organic problems, such as Asthma, irritable bowel syndrome, migraines and stress.

As a result of not targeting the symtoms, but treating the person, we are in effect dealing with all the problems that could be causing the symptom in the first place. Below are some commonly presented conditions that respond well to treatment are; Click on a link for further details.

This list is just an example of the types of condition that respond well. There are no contra-indications to using the Bowen Technique, so any clients with any condition can be treated. People with chronic arthritis or cancer will benefit from Bowen, even though the condition cannot be treated, the person still can, thereby making their condition more bareable.
