What does Bowen treat?
Bowen is often thought of as a pioneering treatment for ‘bad backs’, but it can be used for far more than just that. If you are in pain, discomfort, or have restriction or imbalance, then Bowen could be the solution to your condition.
The Bowen Technique is a truly holistic therapy in that it addresses the whole body. The body is NOT made up of a series of isolated unit, but a continuum of interlinking parts and systems. The classical view of a muscle starting at one point and finishing at another is a little simplistic. In reality the connective tissue that surrounds every muscle, tendon, ligament and organ blends into the connective tissue of another. Simply put, you cannot affect one part of the body without affecting something else. So instead of specifically treating one area, Bowen treats the body as a whole, because the body works as a whole integrated unit.
By working on the body this way, Bowen treats the cause of the problem not just the symptom itself.
The Bowen Technique is suitable for everyone from new born babies to the frail and elderly. Even in very serious or acute conditions, where an injury has just occurred, Bowen can be used to very good effect. As well as common conditions such a bad backs, Bowen is extremely effective on more complex or organic problems, such as Asthma, irritable bowel syndrome, migraines and stress. Below is a list of just some of the common problems treated:
